What precautions should one take when on antiepileptics ?

• Remember the names of your medicines.
• Take yur medicines at the proper time.
• Never change the brand of your medicines. This could affect the levels of these drugs in your blood.
• Sleep deprivation is a trigger for seizures. Hence sleep for at least 8 hours daily.
• Avoid prolonged TV watching.
• In case of fever, always consult your Doctor. Never take antibiotics on your own. Many antibiotics can cause seizures in those prone to it.
• When pregnant consult your Doctor at the earliest.
• Avoid fasts as they can trigger seizures.
• Avoid alcohol.
• Keep a diary for recording the seizure episodes.
