This is a surgery which uses radioactive property of Cobalt 60 & does not involve any open surgery.

A frame is fixed to the patient's head. With the help of MRI, the lesion is accurately localised. 200 different sources of Cobalt are then arranged all around the patient's head & the radiation arising from them is focussed onto the lesion.

After the treatment the patient can go home. The radiotherapy effect tehn follows for several months & leads to disappearance or a decrease in the size of the lesion. This is being used for Mesial temporal Sclerosis.
